March Madness - 1 March 07

The theme for our evening was the Madness of March. It was professionally chaired by Distinguished Toastmaster, Ruth Pressler, who entertained us with snippets of information and humourous quotes about the month of March.

After a toast by Paul McKinley to Toastmasters International, Cindy Knutton, in keeping with the theme, proposed a toast to "a little bit of craziness."

Two prepared speeches were presented and expertly evaluated. Steve Stevenson, dressed in a bow-tie, re-enacted an acceptance speech for the award of best-director at the Oscars. With flamboyance and humour he thanked all the members of his team. Our second speaker, BJ Jonker, gave a presentation promoting his company's e-mail archiving product. An evaluation team consisting of Dave Stadler, Kathy Kay and Peter Ahmad provided helpful suggestions for the speakers' future improvement.

Keryn House ran an educational table-topics session, first giving tips on impromptu speaking, and then discussing the examples provided by her three volunteers.

Our final presentation, by Trina McKinley, pointed out how members could gain personal growth besides attending club meetings.

All in all, a fun-filled evening was had by members and guests.
